 Dr. Tim Thomas grew up in Rome, Georgia. He graduated from The Georgia Institute of Technology with highest honors in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Spanish. Following college he attended Emory University School of Medicine and was selected by his classmates as the student speaker at graduation. His residency and training in general pediatrics were completed in Chattanooga, Tennessee where he was presented the Oslerian Scholar award for teaching and placed first in the resident research day competition. Having developed an interest in congenital heart disease as a medical student, Dr. Thomas pursued a fellowship in pediatric cardiology at Children’s Medical Center Dallas. He completed an additional year of training in non-invasive cardiac imaging where he focused on echocardiography, including fetal heart ultrasound. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Cardiology, and the American Heart Association. His clinical focus is on general pediatric cardiology, including echocardiography and fetal cardiology. Tim and his wife, Andrea, enjoy participating in medical mission trips to Central and South America. He has one daughter, Hannah, who was born in 1998 and enjoys having her father talk to her class about the heart. The most rewarding aspect of his career is establishing relationships with children, young adults, and families affected by cardiac disorders. |
